Markus Wach is a contrabassist and multi-instrumentalist, based in Germany. The focus of his musical work lies on Jazz with worldmusic elements and the folkloristic and improvisational traditions of the Middle East and Central Asia. He plays an old bohemian contrabass and a set of rare traditional musical instruments from all over the world with a great emphasis on string instruments, bowed and plucked. One of his main goals is to keep dying traditions of different musical cultures alive and use them to create a unique musical language for his compositions and improvisations.

Markus studied musicology in Gießen and contrabass & guitar in Mainz. Since then he works as a freelancer in various musical projects and composes or records music for film and video games.
